Our founder, Jamie, graduated with a first class honours degree in Accounting and Finance, where she was also a double prize-winner. She began her VAT career in 2010 and continued her studies becoming a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2015.
The first 11 years of her career were spent at an independent VAT advisory firm, where she became the Head of Tax & Financial Savings. She then moved to a top-ten international accounting firm in London as an Associate Director, so has experience in both a large corporate business and an owner-managed business. Jamie has worked with a broad range of clients on varying VAT issues, and is comfortable and experienced in specialist areas that even other VAT professionals avoid (for example, NHS contracted-out-services).
Over the years she has been actively involved with the Chartered Institute of Taxation, and is also a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians VAT sub-group technical steering group. She’s an experienced and trusted professional, known for her friendly and approachable style. Jamie is here to ensure that any advice delivered by Otterbear is simple, pragmatic and personal.
